PROF.DR. FUAT İNCE

Resume

He received his bachelor’s degree in electrical/electronic engineering from Bogazici University and his master’s and doctorate degrees from the University of Illinois, USA, where he was a Fulbright scholar. He worked as an expert, chief expert and vice president at TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Centre (MAM). He took part in the founding of TÜBİTAK Informatics Institute and TÜBİTAK Electronics and Cryptology Research Institute. While he was the founding director of the Informatics Institute, he pioneered the first internet service in the vicinity of Istanbul (1993). In the 1970s, he initiated the first computerised processing of satellite images (remote sensing) in Turkey. As an academician, he established the remote sensing programme at the King Fahad University of Petroleum and Minerals in Saudi Arabia, where he received awards for his projects. After returning home, he worked in the defence sector and foundation universities. He retired as the Head of the Computer Engineering Department at Marmara University. He gave lectures on space technologies, space policies and space security at the Air Force Academy and Air Force Academy. He served in the United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space on behalf of Turkey and in various NATO projects and working groups. He received the most successful project award from the Saudi Arabian Scientific Organisation SANCST and TÜBİTAK MAM and the service award from NATO (IEPG). He attended NATO’s Air and Space Power Conference in 2021 as an invited speaker. Professor İNCE has published several articles and books on computer engineering and space technologies. His book SPACE, A Human Adventure is a comprehensive popular science book written on this subject.
